Smart Automatic Cars can Reduce Fuel Consumption Efficiently

Chevrolet Cruze LTZ
Cars that can move automatically have the ability to reduce the fuel consumption, as said by Nady Boules, the director of General Motor Electric and Controls Integration Lab.
Many carmakers are working on development of such automatic cars.
Fully automatic cars will be more rationally designed, which will make them lighter in weight and thereby help to decrease fuel consumption.
These automatic cars will have further possibility of controlling acceleration in a favorable manner and this will be a plus point to reduce fuel consumption as fast start and tough braking can result in 40% increased fuel consumption. Boules said that 10-15% of fuel consumption could be reduced by the space of four meters from a moving truck. Moreover, vehicle-to-vehicle communication can also work in reducing fuel consumption by coordinating traffic intelligently and decreasing accidents.
Parking a car automatically could save fuel by eliminating the need for drivers to circle around the parking lot in order to find the free space. Here, the concept of car’s automatic parking to the nearest parking space will work, after dropping off the owner from the car, even if parking space is located half a mile away. Similarly, at the time of leaving, the owner will send a signal to the car through smart phone or any other device and car will automatically pick him up. Smart vehicles will need less maintenance and thereby can reduce fuel consumption by 30%.
When the signals are red, the car will automatically switched off and it will be switched on just before the green signal.

Boules reported that cars with partial attention to the vehicle’s steering wheel and the accelerator will probably come by the end of this decade and fully automated cars will come by the next decade but certain new rules and regulations will be enforced.
